STAYING MOTIVATED WHILE YOU’RE UNEMPLOYED

If you’ve received the dreaded “pink slip” recently, then you understand how hard it can be to stay motivated while you’re unemployed. It doesn’t matter if it has been two months or a year … keeping your chin up during a job search is difficult at best.
You need to think of your job search as a full-time job and not a chance to go fishing or catch up on a good mystery novel. Stay in your workday routine. If you used to work Monday through Friday and rolled out of bed at 6:30 a.m., then come Monday morning you’d better be brushing your teeth by 6:31 a.m.
Next, thoroughly update your resume. If you’re not good a writing, it is probably best to spend a few dollars and have a professional create a master resume file that you can edit as your career path changes. Depending how long you’ve been at your job, you’re probably much more professionally valuable than when you were originally hired. Let your new employer know your new qualifications and experience.
Block out the first half of every business day for reviewing various job boards and sending out your new resume. Leave the afternoon for interviews — especially late afternoons. According to the July 7, 2010 issue of Woman’s World, the first interview of the day gets the job 17 percent of the time while the last person of the day gets hired 55 percent of the time.
Instead of waiting for the business world to take notice that you’re available, you can try becoming your own boss by working as an Agent for companies like UFirst™. You’ll not only have the potential to make a great income, you will be helping others get out of debt and build wealth all at the same time!
